![]() ![]() And like the Jo圜ons, the Joypad also allows for single Joypad use sideways, although it is not very easy to hold, but the option is still there giving it a lot more variety than most third-party Switch controllers on the market. I don’t think it is as comfortable or as high of quality as the HORI Split Pad Pro, but its price point is significantly cheaper than HORI’s and the rumble feature gives it a leg up, in my opinion.Īlthough I cannot recommend this as a full Jo圜on replacement, I can absolutely recommend this as a portable alternative, as it does make portable play on the Switch much better than with the Jo圜ons. So while the ALIENGT Joypad / ECHTPower Wireless Controller fails in many ways, particularly in the standard controller department, it is actually a solid alternative for on-the-go play. To my surprise, you can actually connect the cable while the Joypad are in the M-shaped grip, but unfortunately you cannot charge both at the same time without compromising the connectors on the USB-C cable. Notice that ECHTPower on the back of the M-shaped grip, too. ![]() Sure, it is no HD Rumble, but it is serviceable and a nice feature that is absent in other Jo圜on-like controllers. While on the go, similar to the HORI Split Pad Pro, the ALIENGT Joypad is a very comfortable alternative, and the advantage it has even over the HORI Split Pad Pro is the rumble feature. This is honestly where the ALIENGT Joypad shines. That makes the ALIENGT Joypad / ECHTPower Wireless Controller a terrible alternative for a proper controller, but let’s talk about how it fits and plays while hooked to the Switch console itself. ![]() The fact that I cannot use the normal Jo圜on grip makes this even worse, because this M-shaped grip is the only thing these Joypad actually fit into outside the console itself. I played a few twin-stick shooters that were a major pain, because my aiming did not correspond with the direction I was pushing. You see, because the M-shaped grip angles both Joypad, pushing directly up actually results in a slightly left pressed angle since true north is when the Joypad is upright. Not only that, but because of the M-shaped grip, playing games is also problematic, especially FPS games or twin-stick shooters. This causes incredible strain on the thumb trying to move from one to the other, and I often found myself completely missing the D-pad because my muscle memory is so used to it being either below or slightly to the right. This is also true with the Joypad, but the M-shaped grip positions the D-pad to be to the left of the joystick instead of directly below. One of the bigger complaints about the Switch Jo圜ons is that the positioning of the D-pad and left joystick are on the same line. BinBok’s controller is noticeably lighter than Nintendo’s and felt great to play for extended sessions. This M-shaped grip provided with the ALIENGT Joypad hold the remotes in a rather strange way. The form factor of the controller is almost identical to the original Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and is a comfortable fit. It would have been nice to have an additional textured grip on the back of the controller but otherwise feels fine when playing. ![]() The cracked surface coating also serves as an additional grip layer in your hands, it’s smooth and provides a nice amount of friction. BinBok Controller LED Gyro Mode Ergonomics It’s cool to have the ability to customize a controller to such a degree and it’s a big plus if you have several of the same controller and want to differentiate between them. Joystick mode lights up when the analog stick is moved, vibration mode lights up when a game sends vibrations and gyro mode lights up a specific LED/color when tilting in a certain direction. I think it looks cool.īinBok seems to take their lighting modes seriously and has implemented multiple lighting modes. It’s worth noting that regardless of LED color or mode, the blue Player LED indicator light leaks onto the face of the controller. If you don’t need lights or vibration, they can be turned off to save some battery. Vibration intensity can be configured in a similar way. Light intensity can be adjusted using the up or down in combination with the light button and there’s a breathing mode too that pulsates a selected LED color. The light button on the face of the controller allows cycling through various colors including a rainbow mode. BinBok Stock Black and White Pro Controllers ![]()
